On June 9, NJUIT held a working meeting at Conference Room 401 of the Administration Building to advance the on-site institutional review for the Higher Education Accreditation for International Students in China (HEAIS). He Xuejun, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the university, Sun Xiucheng, Party Committee Standing Committee member and Vice President, Zhang Li, Party Committee Standing Committee member and Director of both the Organization Department and the United Front Work Department, and Lao Jiaren, Party Committee Standing Committee member and Director of the Publicity Department, attended the meeting. Heads of relevant functional departments, Party and administrative leaders of secondary colleges with international student programs, and representatives from the International Education College were also present.
He Xuejun put forward four requirements for the accreditation preparation work. First, raise political awareness and strengthen a holistic mindset. All relevant departments and colleges must recognize that this quality accreditation represents a strategic opportunity to consolidate the university's international brand. They should unify their thinking, attach great importance to the review, and treat the preparation as a matter of university-wide significance for high-quality development. Second, strengthen accountability and advance targeted alignment. With a rigorous and pragmatic attitude, they should refine division of responsibilities, adhere to a problem-oriented approach, conduct self-assessment and categorized rectification, and further improve the quality of core accreditation materials to create favorable conditions for the expert panel's efficient evaluation. Third, use the review to drive development and achieve substantive improvement. They should avoid over-reliance on existing materials and continue to distill distinctive case highlights. The preparation process should be transformed into an internal mechanism and driving force for building teams, building consensus, and advancing the university's long-term development. Fourth, pool collective strength to ensure goal attainment. All relevant departments and colleges should demonstrate a spirit of coordination and proactive support to ensure successful accreditation with excellent results, providing solid backing for the university's goal of becoming "nationally leading and world-class."
Sun Xiucheng provided specific arrangements for the accreditation preparation. He stressed the need to maintain high standards and strict requirements, checking against each accreditation indicator to identify and address gaps. Efforts should focus on fostering an international atmosphere, improving bilingual campus signage, optimizing the English website, and enhancing the campus environment and service support. He noted the importance of further strengthening teaching condition inspections, preparing for expert classroom observations and practical training sessions, refining the expert panel's campus visit itinerary and reception plan, and standardizing presentation content and etiquette requirements. At the same time, the university should continue to optimize the learning and living environment for international students and solidly carry out work related to foreign-related ideological matters.
At the meeting, Zhang Haining, Party Branch Secretary and Dean of the International Education College and the LSBU-NJUIT Joint Institute, reported on the preliminary self-assessment and self-rectification work for the Higher Education Accreditation for International Students in China. She introduced the contents of core materials including the self-assessment report, supporting documents, and compilation of regulations, and outlined the schedule for the on-site institutional review.
The Higher Education Accreditation for International Students in China is a qualification assessment conducted under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and implemented by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) as a third-party organization. It serves as an authoritative benchmark for measuring the level of international education at higher education institutions and will support the development of the "Study in NJUIT" brand.
